The First Swing Program is run by Mark Tibbles at The Vines Golf and Country Club.

The program kindly supported by the WA Golf Foundation encourages children and young adults with disabilities and special needs to ‘give golf a go’.

The 2016 program teed off with clinics in the January and monthly clinics followed along with school holiday workshops.

Thirty five children have to date participated in the 2016 clinics and whilst the program is aimed at youngsters, adults too have shown an interest with seven coming along on a regular basis.

A separate program for adults will be scheduled in the future. Disabilities this year have included Autism, Asperger Syndrome, Dyspraxia, Epilepsy, Tourette Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and hearing impairment.

Five First Swing students are now participating in mainstream junior programs and four of them have joined/retained junior membership at The Vines Golf & Country Club.
