Our Purpose

WA Golf Foundation

“The foundation have been wonderful supporters and we are really grateful they have backed us now for five years and we hope this will grow.”

Taking the place of the Graham Marsh Junior Golf Foundation and expanding its scope across all demographics and levels, The WA Golf Foundation (WAGF) was created in 2012 with the sole purpose of growing the game of golf.

Managed by a board of trustees representing both GolfWA and the Professional Golf Association (PGA) of Australia WA Division, WAGF provides support and funding to golfing organisations, PGA pros, coaches and teachers for the creation of golf-focused programs and initiatives across WA.

It’s not always easy. There is no doubt that membership numbers and new enrolments aren’t what they once were. Regional golf clubs, in particular, are experiencing difficulties in retaining and attracting members; and this is exactly where our Foundation steps in.

By funding new programs and initiatives, fostering emerging talent and openly promoting and facilitating the game of golf across regional and city-based locations and varying demographics, we are helping to pave the way for the future of our game.

Our key focus

Increasing participation is our primary focus.

This is where the future lies, plain and simple: the more people who experience golf, the more who grow to love it, and the more the opportunity to foster greatness in those with talent.

In support of this, one of our key roles is the allocation of funding at a grassroots level. This funding is injected into programs which benefit players across all levels and demographics, including people with varying physical abilities and social and cultural backgrounds.

Talent identification is another key focus.

While we provide support across all abilities, an essential area of our work is in nurturing young and emerging talent within our junior players. WAGF does this through grants and scholarships to assist with coaching and other related expenses.

If you believe you know a young player who could benefit from our programs, please get in touch via the Contact page.

And of course, there is community and development

We’re here to support golf at a grassroots level and we’re also here to shout from the rooftops about it to reach as many people as possible.

WAGF promotes golf and our community, values and opportunities, through expos, media and promotions both at regional and community levels.

As at December 2019, since our inception, WAGF has funded 114 programs and have enjoyed some incredible success stories in many clubs.

See our Get Funding page for more information on the types of programs we provide funding to and our Donate page to pledge your support.
